The Forest path is a perfect walk to introduce bub to the bush. Situated in the Royal National Park in Sydney’s south, this easy, short hike is mostly shaded and previews some beautiful bush scenes as you hike along the Hacking river
The long
Access
Park your car at the carpark on Sir Bertram Stevens Drive in the Royal National Park. Note, there is a $12 entry fee to the Royal National Park.
The trail
You can walk this hike in either direction, however if you’re wanting to sit down with bambino for a quick bite to eat first, we recommend hiking anticlockwise and starting down Lady Carrington Drive. There is a picnic table at the turn off onto the Forest Path.
Otherwise, there are only a couple of suitable spots you can sit down for a snack along the way. We chose a little side track which took us down to some rocks along the Hacking river for a snack spot, with a beautiful cascade where we had some water play with the bubs.
The track is well formed, signposted and mostly flat. Once you turn onto the forest path, the track narrows, but it is easily followed the whole way until you pop out along Sir Bertram Stevens drive, not far from where you parked!
If you’re looking to extend your outing, a visit to the Audley Dance Hall Cafe on your drive in or out would be a great spot for brunch or lunch with your bubba.
