The long
Access
Kingfisher pool is situated in Heathcote National Park. Park at the northern end of Warabin St. This is a residential street, there are no facilities at the start of this walk. This walk can be popular on weekends so you may need to park further down the street. Otherwise, go on a weekday and enjoy the serenity!
If using public transport, Waterfall station is a 700m straightforward walk to the start of the trail at the end of Warabin St.
We acknowledge that this walk is on the lands of the Dharawal people and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.
The trail
Kingfisher pool is along the Bullawarring trail. The track begins at the northern end of Warabin street, follow the signs to kingfisher pool.
After a couple of hundred meters the track arrives at a rock shelf and then drops down a rocky slope where some bum shuffling and rock hopping is needed. You will need your hands here, so make sure bub is safely in the carrier, or if you have a little walker, you have hands free to help lift them down.
At the bottom of the steep rocky slope, you will pass an intersection with the Lake Talooma trail, another great walk to do with bub in Heathcote National Park!
Continue following the signs to Bullarwarring trail, and shortly after you will cross a small gully and another intersection with a service fire trail. There will be a sign pointing west for the Kingfisher pool, follow the signs onto the bushtrack and continue along this track until you reach Kingfisher Pools! We did this walk in June and there were a wonderful variety of banksias out in bloom lining the trail which bub loved pointing out!
You will come to a clearing just off the track which is the Kingfisher Pools camping ground. There are pit toilets and a picnic table here, but if you’re looking to stop for a snack or lunch, setting up on a rock overlooking the pools or cascades is a much nicer option! Just be mindful if your bambino is up and walking!
Return the way you came, remembering to reserve some energy for the steep climb back to your car at the end!
To extend the walk and make it a 5km loop walk, you could continue along Bullawarring trail and return via Mooray walking track.
Total climbing: 120 m
